Commemorative coin with the Cathedral

The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the main temple of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, the burial vault of the Kiev princes.

Founded in 1073 at the initiative of the monk Theodosius of the Caves and built at the expense of Prince Svyatoslav Yaroslavovich.

The architectural style is baroque.

Over the centuries of its existence, it has repeatedly suffered from the earthquake in 1230 and ending with the events of World War II.
